Work Experience
Personal practice
2020 —
In the beginning of 2020 I left my full time job to pursue a long-time dream of becoming an illustrator and animator. It has been a bumpy road, with pandemic and all, but I managed to get to work with the themes that are close to my heart: education, sustainability, environment, wellbeing. Among others I worked with Suomen Luonto (Finnish Nature) magazine, Oh Mag UK, Kone Foundation, Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luonnonvarakeskus). I have also accomplished a lot of learning with the awesome School of Motion, developing my After Effects skills and learning ins and outs of illustration for motion.
Aalto University
Lead Designer
2018—2020
In the end 2018 I was promoted to Lead Designer at Aalto University. On top of taking care of University's visual communication, I took over strong ownership of Aalto visual brand. I was leading the team fluctuating from 2 to 6 people depending on the project. I took care of the brand refreshment process and guidelines renewal, website renewal and continued working on visual communication projects. I worked closely with contractors of various kind, delegating and supervising visual side of things. One of my biggest projects was creating new online brand guidelines.
Aalto University
Graphic Designer
2016—2018
As an in-house designer, I took care of the visual communication of the university: executed design for university visual materials, events, digital channels. I worked closely with outsourced consultancies and students. I've done lots of big events visual support, for example Aalto Festival, which was recognised as “site of the day” by Mindsparkle Mag.
LUK Design Oy
Co-founder & Designer
2014—2016
I think entrepreneurship teaches you project management the hard way. At LUK we've been conceptualising and implementing graphic concepts, but there was also a lot of client management: analysing, interpreting and discussing briefs and project requirements with the client, holding workshops, meeting client's need and budgets. We did a lot of identity design and its digital presentation.
Finnish Ministry of Environment
Ymparistö magazine
AD, Designer
2012—2014
“Media concept design” minor program at Aalto University lead me to the job at Ympäristö magazine published by the Finnish Ministry of Environment. I created the new visual identity for the magazine and then was hired to art-direct and design layout for every issue, which included photography briefing, photography post-production, creating infographics and illustrations, holding workshops and discussions with the editorial office.
Bob Helsinki OY
Junior Graphic Designer
2012
At BOB I did junior designer's work, mostly fractured tasks of a bigger picture. I learned a lot of the design agency routine and also of the high quality standard of Finnish design industry. Mostly I was producing designs for multimedia, incorporating feedback of senior members of the team, working to the guidelines, supporting the team throughout the execution of campaigns and projects.
